About

What Is a Viewmodel in CS2

A viewmodel in CS2 determines how your weapon and hands are positioned on the screen from a first-person perspective. It’s usually changed to free up screen space, keep the weapon from covering important angles, reduce visual distractions, or make the position feel more comfortable. Two common approaches are pushing the weapon farther toward the edge or bringing it closer to the center. Neither position works for everyone, so the final setup should be adjusted according to personal preference and tested in-game.

How to Use

Move the sliders to adjust the visual and positional properties of the viewmodel. Every adjustment appears immediately in the preview, so different positions can be compared before the generated command is copied into CS2.

Viewmodel Parameter

What It Changes

Usage Guidance

FOV

Changes the field of view of the weapon model and how large it appears on the screen.

Higher values make the weapon look smaller and farther away. Lower values make it look larger and closer.

Offset X

Changes the horizontal position of the weapon.

Higher values move the weapon farther toward the edge. Lower values bring it closer to the center.

Offset Y

Moves the weapon forward or backward relative to the player.

Higher values move the weapon farther forward. Lower values bring it closer to the player.

Offset Z

Changes the vertical position of the weapon.

Higher values move the weapon upward. Lower values move it downward.

Handedness

Places the weapon on the right or left side of the screen.

Choose the side that feels more comfortable and leaves the preferred area of the screen clearer.

Classic, Cozy, and Desktop provide three ready-made starting positions. Classic uses a high FOV and moves the weapon farther toward the edge, Cozy uses a lower FOV with the weapon closer to the center and farther forward, while Desktop combines a high FOV with a slightly more central and lower position. Any preset can then be fine-tuned with the individual controls.

After selecting a preset or adjusting the values manually, apply the generated command in CS2:

  • Copy the generated command.
  • Open the CS2 developer console with ~.
